Limo Wars

Auto shows are a great chance to see the latest advancements, technologies and models be released, and even more exciting is when competing brands and products go head to head. At the Detroit Auto Show there were two new concept limousines, one from Maybach and the other from Chrysler and the traditional rivalry in the luxury car industry is still alive and kicking.

The limousine concepts are for a convertible limousine and Maybach and Chrysler each have their hard work to reveal. The Chrysler 300 Hollywood and the Maybach Landaulet Study share several similar characteristics which leads critics speculating about whether Chrysler should have had their bags checked at the door when they sold off Maybach.

When deciding on the winner of any limousine battle, the first point to consider is always class and prestige. In this analysis, it is likely Maybach will win hands down when faced with a Chrysler limousine as the Daimler creation is a typically luxurious brand.

Power is not generally a major concern with a chauffeur driven vehicle, however, it can be comforting to know that your limousine has the power to let fly if need be. If this is a criteria for your limousine choices, you will be happy to know that the Maybach is powered by a 6 litre V12, when the Chrysler is running on a 2.7 litre V6.

Being a convertible limousine, you would assume the point is so the passengers can enjoy the wind in their hair and the sun on their face. However, in the 300C Hollywood, the top only retracts to leave the chauffeur and the front passenger uncovered, while the Maybach retracts all the way.

As concept cars, the limousines are not on ready to take you for a ride just yet, however, just the fact that there are two convertible limousines waiting for production, from such contrasting manufacturers is just further proof that there really is a limousine out there for absolutely everyone.
